Preserving and Protecting

Native Culture In Alaska

C2P2 teamed up with the Georgia Institute of Technology for their visit to the Native Village of Tyonek in Alaska to support the development of their Cultural Experience Center. The Center will provide a unique three day experience for visitors to learn how the community fishes; prepares food to eat; store food for the winter, and provide exposure to their language and other customs. Learning leads to understanding, and understanding brings people together.

This project will also provide significant economic development for the first time in many years for the Native Village of Tyonek.

More importantly, the center will teach children from the community the language to preserve it for the future, as well as other tribal customs.

Additionally, the building will be designed to be net zero to minimize utility costs.
